by Debby Gibson
Zach Nader, MFA candidate in Photography; Emily Schuhmann, MFA candidate in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing; and Christopher Voss, MFA candidate in Painting, have been chosen by the Rockport Center for Arts as emerging artists from Texas. During the National Youth Art Month of March, the Rising Eyes of Texas Collegiate Exhibition will honor 30 students from 14 Texas colleges and universities giving TTU SoA artists one-sixth of glory.
At the reception, Saturday, March 7, from 5-7p.m., at the center in Rockport, Texas, cash prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Michelle Smythe, director of K Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, will jury the show.
Voss explains, “My work , Contained Unraveling, deals with the container, metaphorically connected to the human form, and the volatile state of its existence.”
Maxey Park is by Nader who explains, “It was made here and I used a pinhole camera on this photograph.”
